Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is now one of the largest trusts in the country, serving a population of 1.2 million people. Our newly formed Trust, comprising acute hospital sites at Broomfield in Chelmsford, Basildon and Southend,  is determined to provide the best health services for its local population. We are a well-led, high-performing and innovative organisation working in the best interests of the people we serve.

With a workforce of approximately 15,000 staff, we can now do more and go further in delivering health services to our local communities.

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and wellbeing of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

Patients will experience improved care as well as fewer delays and cancellations.  We are able to provide more once-in-a-lifetime specialist care region-wide. With our new trust size will come more opportunities for development, research, networking and innovation.

We  aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.

We will deliver safe and high-quality services and be an employer of choice for our workforce.

We are ‘one team, working together’.

The Secretary of State for Health has a duty, under the Health and Social Care Act 2012, to ensure “the use in the health service of evidence obtained from research’.1 NHS Library & Knowledge Services have a key roll in enabling NHS staff to have access to and use appropriate knowledge to support their practice, their learning and development and their research.

This is an exciting new post for a qualified, outgoing and creative librarian/information specialist who wants make their mark working in MSE Healthcare Libraries, a new merged library and knowledge service for one of the biggest NHS Trusts in the country.

The post is based at Broomfield Healthcare Library in Chelmsford, working closely with the services based at Basildon and Southend. As one of the Clinical/Outreach librarians in the MSE library team you will be expected to work collaboratively to help develop a consistent high-quality service across all three sites. The Broomfield library is undergoing refurbishment to create an appropriate and welcoming learning environment and relaxation area, fit for the needs of todays’ NHS staff.

Our libraries have a reputation for innovation, quality, and first-class customer service. Our services support evidence-based practice, clinical and managerial decision making and patient safety and wellbeing for NHS and Social Care staff across all sectors thus facilitating high quality patient care throughout the Trust and the wider healthcare community.
