Here at Southend University Hospital we strive to provide high quality care for every patient, every time.

We would be nothing without our staff. So it goes without saying that when it comes to recruiting new team members, we're looking for the best. We encourage staff to be innovative, to challenge the "as is" and to always put patients first.

We want staff who will live our trust values every day.

Care with compassion, Working together, Professional and accountable

This is an exciting time to join us. The three NHS trusts that currently run Broomfield, Southend and Basildon hospitals are planning to become a new single NHS organisation by mid-2019.

All three hospitals will continue to provide the services our patients use the most. These include outpatient appointments, children’s services and day-case surgery.  All three hospitals will continue to provide 24/7 A&E and maternity services.

By working as one team we will provide the same high standard of care and services for all of our 1.2m local residents. Using the same equipment, processes and IT systems means services will run more smoothly.  Single leadership, standards and new structures will speed up decision making.  Combined corporate services will reduce duplication and cut running costs. This means more money for front-line services and faster improvements.

Attracting new talent is key to our future and the scale of our organisation will give far  more career, training and development opportunities for all our staff.

Southend University Hospital are now recruiting for Health Care Assistants to join our fast moving and busy wards!

At Southend University Hospital, we completely understand how important it is for our Health Care Assistants to be compassionate and kind natured and we are looking for more like-minded individuals to join our trust!

We need you to be motivated and enthusiastic, displaying a flexible and friendly attitude, and willing to commit to delivering an excellent level of care to our patients and their families.

We have flexible working opportunities for both part time and full time roles, on bank and permanent employment.

In return, we will work closely with you providing full training for your role once you join the trust. We will then continue to provide guidance throughout your career, supporting your development needs and your professional aspirations.

As part of the Healthcare Assistant recruitment process, there will be an Assessment day on Friday 12th April 2019.  The Assessment day will require the candidate to take part in a small number of tests prior to an interview taking place.

Candidates will receive an email invitation requiring them to book a place for the day's event. If you are successful in passing the assessment you will either be invited to interview on the same day, or invited back the following week.

Please be aware if you are unable to attend the Assessment day on 12th April 2019, we would not be able to progress an application for you at this time. However, we run HCA recruitment events on a monthly basis so please check our website for details of the next date.

Please note interviews may not take place on the day and will depend on the number of candidates attending. You must be over 18 to apply for this role. Please do not submit an application if you have attended a HCA recruitment event with the last 6 months and been unsuccessful.

This post may close early should sufficient applications be received.
