Here at Southend University Hospital we strive to provide high quality care for every patient, every time.

We would be nothing without our staff. So it goes without saying that when it comes to recruiting new team members, we're looking for the best. We encourage staff to be innovative, to challenge the "as is" and to always put patients first.

We want staff who will live our trust values every day.

Care with compassion, Working together, Professional and accountable

This is an exciting time to join us. The three NHS trusts that currently run Broomfield, Southend and Basildon hospitals are planning to become a new single NHS organisation by mid-2019.

All three hospitals will continue to provide the services our patients use the most. These include outpatient appointments, children’s services and day-case surgery.  All three hospitals will continue to provide 24/7 A&E and maternity services.

By working as one team we will provide the same high standard of care and services for all of our 1.2m local residents. Using the same equipment, processes and IT systems means services will run more smoothly.  Single leadership, standards and new structures will speed up decision making.  Combined corporate services will reduce duplication and cut running costs. This means more money for front-line services and faster improvements.

Attracting new talent is key to our future and the scale of our organisation will give far  more career, training and development opportunities for all our staff.

A opportunity has arisen to expand the Renal unit to be able to offer greater capacity for patients to dialyse.

Southend University Hospital Renal Unit is looking for a Registered Nurse The Renal Unit is open Monday-Saturday to provide an Outpatient Dialysis service for patients with advanced kidney disease. The Unit has 28 beds for haemodialysis and consists of a large multi-disciplinary team including Renal Consultants, Nurses, Renographers, Dieticians, Pharmacist, Receptionists, Medical Secretaries, Housekeepers, and a Porter.

As well as haemodialysis, we provide additional services for renal patients including pre-dialysis management, home therapies care, anaemia management, transplant work up and follow up care and dietetic advice. We also work closely with other specialities such as the diabetes service and palliative care teams.

We offer a comprehensive three month training schedule for all new nurses who join our team. The Area: As a place to live, work and enjoy life, Southend has a great deal to offer. The border touches sea, city and countryside with some of England’s prettiest villages and liveliest towns. It is also just under an hour from London making it an ideal base to explore the capital city.
