Here at Southend University Hospital we strive to provide high quality care for every patient, every time.

We would be nothing without our staff. So it goes without saying that when it comes to recruiting new team members, we're looking for the best. We encourage staff to be innovative, to challenge the "as is" and to always put patients first.

We want staff who will live our trust values every day.

Care with compassion, Working together, Professional and accountable

This is an exciting time to join us. The three NHS trusts that currently run Broomfield, Southend and Basildon hospitals are planning to become a new single NHS organisation by mid-2019.

All three hospitals will continue to provide the services our patients use the most. These include outpatient appointments, children’s services and day-case surgery.  All three hospitals will continue to provide 24/7 A&E and maternity services.

By working as one team we will provide the same high standard of care and services for all of our 1.2m local residents. Using the same equipment, processes and IT systems means services will run more smoothly.  Single leadership, standards and new structures will speed up decision making.  Combined corporate services will reduce duplication and cut running costs. This means more money for front-line services and faster improvements.

Attracting new talent is key to our future and the scale of our organisation will give far  more career, training and development opportunities for all our staff.

Southend University Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic Clinical Fellow ST1 Level to join our Trauma & Orthopaedics department.

Applicants must have an MBBS (or equivalent) and be eligible for Full Registration with the General Medical Council at the time of taking up the appointment.

This post is NOT recognised for training however support in developing a Learning Portfolio and regular educational appraisal with a Consultant Educator will be available.

Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust, Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, have teamed to deliver a programme to sustain service and improve care. We have made a real commitment to work together and already have in place a joint executive team to drive forward our ambitious plan to reconfigure and redesign our services and pathways across our hospitals and in the community. Across mid and south Essex we care for a diverse population in cities, towns, and even by the sea. We want to ensure we meet the local needs of our combined 1.2million population and build on our established regional specialist centres of excellence.

Choosing the right people to help bring this partnership alive will be key to our success, which is where you come in. Working across our organisations means you can access bigger, better, brighter opportunities to help you build the career you really want – whether you are starting out, looking for the next step or striving to reach the top of your game. Our combined size means we can offer a wide range of jobs and opportunities at any one of our sites and we recognise our quest for excellence can only be achieved by developing staff at all levels to fulfil their potential. We are passionate about doing a good job and proving quality care for the community we serve, both today and in the future.
