Here at Southend University Hospital we strive to provide high quality care for every patient, every time.
We would be nothing without our staff. So it goes without saying that when it comes to recruiting new team members, we're looking for the best. We encourage staff to be innovative, to challenge the "as is" and to always put patients first.
We want staff who will live our trust values every day.
Care with compassion, Working together, Professional and accountable
Southend Hospital’s Paediatric Assessment Unit are currently seeking dynamic and passionate individuals to join their team as either band 5 Registered Nurses or band 6 Sister/Charge Nurses.
The Paediatric Assessment unit is a 24 hour facility for the assessment and treatment of children who require urgent paediatric care. The unit is staffed by an experienced senior nursing team and staff progression is actively encouraged. It is co-located within Neptune Paediatric Ward. There is a six bedded bay, an isolation room, a PAU treatment room and a PAU waiting room.
Working alongside the nursing staff we are lucky to have a team of Play Specialists that are invaluable in helping both patients and parents through procedures. The Clinical Facilitator assists in teaching and supporting staff especially when there are high dependency patients on the ward or in need of transfer to a specialist centre. The Clinical Nurse Specialist performs specialised diagnostic tests and treatment within her own caseload. The CNS will see much of her workload within the PAU environment with assistance provided by PAU staff where required.
There is an on-going commitment to enhancing practice and the Unit echoes the Trust's commitment to the training and development of all staff.
Registered Nurses will be required to assist senior nursing staff in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of paediatric care for the children and young people who attend the paediatric assessment unit from their initial attendance through to discharge or admission to the inpatient ward while the Sister/Charge Nurse will work with the Ward Manager and other Charge Nurses to lead and co-ordinate a dedicated team of nursing and support staff in the delivery of a high standard of nursing care.
