Here at Southend University Hospital we strive to provide high quality care for every patient, every time.

We would be nothing without our staff. So it goes without saying that when it comes to recruiting new team members, we're looking for the best. We encourage staff to be innovative, to challenge the "as is" and to always put patients first.

We want staff who will live our trust values every day.

Care with compassion, Working together, Professional and accountable

Southend University Hospital has exciting and ambitious plans for the future and we recognise that your skills are integral to these plans; therefore we currently offer an attractive recruitment and retention package. Please contact us for more details.

As a department and trust we actively promote continuous professional development. This is demonstrated with our preceptorship framework that enables progression from band 5 to band 6. All staff are given the opportunity to train in CT and CT is included as part of their normal rotation.

Our forward thinking, proactive and clinically led radiology department ,already offers a radiographer led CT Colon service, radiographer reporting in all aspects of plain film imaging and we have recently started radiographer led MRI reporting training and video fluoroscopy training.

The department provides a multitude of high quality imaging for a broad range of specialties. We have both CR and DR x-ray systems, including a newly installed digital room for Emergency department work and a new CR room for GP/Outpatient work. In addition, we will soon be replacing our existing Emergency Department resusitation equipment with a high specification DR system.

We currently have two 64 slice CT scanners and two 1.5T MRI scanners. There are further plans to replace our MRI scanners with 3 new MRI systems. These will be integrated into a new purpose built co-located environment during 2017.

We undertake interventional radiology, angiography and cardiac catheterisation in our three imaging suites. Last year a hybrid imaging suite was added to our theatre department. This development will support our growing status as a hyper acute stroke service provider.

You will be part of a friendly department, where many of the staff socialise together outside of work.

At Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust we strongly believe in patient care and want to attract like-minded people to help build and maintain a supportive and enjoyable place to work. We believe our ‘Care with Compassion’, ‘Working Together’ and Professional & Accountable’ Trust values reflect this.

Southend Hospital is an extremely rewarding place to work not only do we offer highly attractive benefits for all Employees, such as a very desirable Pension scheme and Staff Discounts, we also boast a number of other incentives, an onsite nursery with discounted prices for staff members and with an initial guaranteed annual leave entitlement of 27 days (pro rata) rising to 33 days (pro rata) after 7 years’ service.

As a place to live, work and enjoy life, Southend on Sea has a lot to offer. The border touches sea, city and countryside with some of England’s prettiest villages and liveliest towns. It is also just under an hour from London making it an ideal base to explore the capital city. We also benefit from being close to Southend Airport which is developing all the time and regularly flies to many European cities.
