Here at Southend University Hospital we strive to provide high quality care for every patient, every time.

We would be nothing without our staff. So it goes without saying that when it comes to recruiting new team members, we're looking for the best. We encourage staff to be innovative, to challenge the "as is" and to always put patients first.

We want staff who will live our trust values every day.

Care with compassion, Working together, Professional and accountable

This is an exciting time to join us. The three NHS trusts that currently run Broomfield, Southend and Basildon hospitals are planning to become a new single NHS organisation by mid-2019.

All three hospitals will continue to provide the services our patients use the most. These include outpatient appointments, children’s services and day-case surgery.  All three hospitals will continue to provide 24/7 A&E and maternity services.

By working as one team we will provide the same high standard of care and services for all of our 1.2m local residents. Using the same equipment, processes and IT systems means services will run more smoothly.  Single leadership, standards and new structures will speed up decision making.  Combined corporate services will reduce duplication and cut running costs. This means more money for front-line services and faster improvements.

Attracting new talent is key to our future and the scale of our organisation will give far  more career, training and development opportunities for all our staff.

COME AND JOIN OUR TEAM!

Southend University Hospital successfully bid for the Urology Specialist Cancer Centre in 2016, meaning that the Trust provides specialised surgery for patients across Essex with prostate, bladder and kidney cancer.

Centralising this specialist urological cancer surgery brings together clinical experts to share experience and further develop the service for the benefit of our patients. The specialist surgeons and nurse specialists are supported by a network of clinical and administrative staff, both at Southend and across Essex, providing multi-disciplinary care and guiding patients through their complex pathways.

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Operating Department Practitioners who are patient focused and strive to deliver high quality and safe patient care. You should be committed to working effectively within multi-professional teams and have excellent communication skills .A desire to join a team to develop and implement innovative practice within the theatre complex is essential.

We are a friendly and welcoming unit and will support you in your new role. We provide a comprehensive induction package including the opportunity to work in all of the specialties supported by our practice development team and our senior Band 6 and 7staff. You will have the opportunity to attend simulation study days in the Trust's newly installed simulation suite.

Hours: the need to be flexible is essential. The shift patterns include late shifts, weekend and an on call commitment.

As a place to live, work and enjoy life, Southend on Sea has a lot to offer. The border touches sea, city and countryside with some of England’s prettiest villages and liveliest towns.
