Here at Southend University Hospital we strive to provide high quality care for every patient, every time.
We would be nothing without our staff. So it goes without saying that when it comes to recruiting new team members, we're looking for the best. We encourage staff to be innovative, to challenge the "as is" and to always put patients first.
We want staff who will live our trust values every day.
Care with compassion, Working together, Professional and accountable
At Southend we’re really setting the pace in our elderly care services by investing in a service addressing the acute clinical problems and needs of older patients. Developing processes that will lead to better outcomes for such patients and ensuring these processes are embedded across the hospital.
With a large elderly population we have seen a rise in emergency admissions to hospital. The planned developments will see improved partnership working with our primary care partners to prevent hospital admission in the first place. Our services will be developed using best practice principals with regard to acute medical care of older people. We are at the early stages of developing our service so you can have a key role to play in shaping this service joining our existing team for elderly services comprising experienced geriatricians, discharge co-ordinators, nursing staff, social workers and rehab staff all of whom are dedicated to provide good quality patient care. The role of geriatricians and other professionals who specialise in care of older people is crucial in implementing best practice in terms of leadership, involvement, education and training.
