Here at Southend University Hospital we strive to provide high quality care for every patient, every time.
We would be nothing without our staff. So it goes without saying that when it comes to recruiting new team members, we're looking for the best. We encourage staff to be innovative, to challenge the "as is" and to always put patients first.
We want staff who will live our trust values every day.
Care with compassion, Working together, Professional and accountable
Applicants are invited to apply for the position of Locum Specialty Doctor in the department of Medicine for the Elderly at Southend University NHS Foundation Trust. This post is a fixed term contract for a period of 1 year.
This is a highly progressive department and currently comprises 140 beds for the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of acutely ill elderly people. The department deals with approximately 4,500 inpatient admissions per annum, 5,000 outpatients and 5,000 Medical Assessment Unit attendances. The average length of stay is 16 days approximately.
A major capital scheme (£30 million) enabled all services to be centralised on the Southend site by October 1995. Four wards provide acute care and rehabilitation services; neurological rehabilitation (all ages) and a stroke unit have been combined on one ward. A further ward provides Ortho-Geriatric services. A Medical Assessment Unit provides day case medical investigation and is also used for medical procedures - transfusion, percutaneous biopsies, etc.
The Trust has an excellent Postgraduate Medical Centre which carries a full programme of events and offers access to a Medical Library.
Please note only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
