Here at Southend University Hospital we strive to provide high quality care for every patient, every time.
We would be nothing without our staff. So it goes without saying that when it comes to recruiting new team members, we're looking for the best. We encourage staff to be innovative, to challenge the "as is" and to always put patients first.
We want staff who will live our trust values every day.
Care with compassion, Working together, Professional and accountable
This is an exciting time to join us. The three NHS trusts that currently run Broomfield, Southend and Basildon hospitals are planning to become a new single NHS organisation by mid-2019.
All three hospitals will continue to provide the services our patients use the most. These include outpatient appointments, children’s services and day-case surgery. All three hospitals will continue to provide 24/7 A&E and maternity services.
By working as one team we will provide the same high standard of care and services for all of our 1.2m local residents. Using the same equipment, processes and IT systems means services will run more smoothly. Single leadership, standards and new structures will speed up decision making. Combined corporate services will reduce duplication and cut running costs. This means more money for front-line services and faster improvements.
Attracting new talent is key to our future and the scale of our organisation will give far more career, training and development opportunities for all our staff.
We are excited to be recruiting for Band 6 Registered Midwives, to join our successful team within the hospital or community. Applicants looking for both part-time or full-time hours will be considered.
Southend Hospital has many outstanding services and it is our ambition to make the maternity service a centre of excellence which will strive to offer a seamless service for women and their babies – from conception to delivery and postnatal care.
We truly believe that you will be proud to work at our Hospital, and as far as achievements go, we really do have a lot to shout about.
Reports have shown that Maternity Services at Southend University Hospital are among the best in the country. A wide spectrum of experience is covered here and we are very proud of the service we are providing to women in our care. We are especially pleased with our active community workforce who have helped us achieve the highest home birth rate in the county.
As well as this, an exciting change in January 2016 saw the birth of the new Midwifery Led Birthing Unit which has 4 themed suites that offer a home-from-home environment for low risk women who want to have 1:1 Midwifery Care in a relaxed environment during their labour. Along with our excellent community midwifery team we are able to offer choice to women preparing for the birth of their baby.
You will be required to provide all aspects of midwifery care and ensure continuity. You will have excellent communication skills and be required to join and be part of a close, hardworking team.
