Here at Southend University Hospital we strive to provide high quality care for every patient, every time.
We would be nothing without our staff. So it goes without saying that when it comes to recruiting new team members, we're looking for the best. We encourage staff to be innovative, to challenge the "as is" and to always put patients first.
We want staff who will live our trust values every day.
Care with compassion, Working together, Professional and accountable
This is an exciting time to join us. The three NHS trusts that currently run Broomfield, Southend and Basildon hospitals are planning to become a new single NHS organisation by mid-2019.
All three hospitals will continue to provide the services our patients use the most. These include outpatient appointments, children’s services and day-case surgery. All three hospitals will continue to provide 24/7 A&E and maternity services.
By working as one team we will provide the same high standard of care and services for all of our 1.2m local residents. Using the same equipment, processes and IT systems means services will run more smoothly. Single leadership, standards and new structures will speed up decision making. Combined corporate services will reduce duplication and cut running costs. This means more money for front-line services and faster improvements.
Attracting new talent is key to our future and the scale of our organisation will give far more career, training and development opportunities for all our staff.
We are looking to recruit two full time substantive Consultants in Acute Medicine. You will help deliver ways of working that ensure increased consultant input and continuity in the acute medical pathway, including working within our ambulatory care services, to deliver a service dedicated to good quality patient care.
Our Acute Medical Service consists of a 25 bedded Assessment Ward, a 7 day Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit (AECU) and our newly developed Short Stay Unit. Patients are referred either by a General Practitioner or the Emergency Medicine Department.
At Southend University Hospital we offer you the opportunity to pursue a special interest within other medical specialities as well the opportunity to be involved our transformation programme across Southend, Mid Essex, Basildon and Thurrock.
You could be building your future in one of the best locations in Britain. Southend is a vibrant seaside town offering a relaxed lifestyle, with a busy local airport and rapid and frequent transport links to London, the Essex countryside and beyond.
We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
