 All three hospitals will continue to provide the services our patients use the most. These include outpatient appointments, children’s services and day-case surgery.  All three hospitals will continue to provide 24/7 A&E and maternity services.

By working as one team we will provide the same high standard of care and services for all of our 1.2m local residents. Using the same equipment, processes and IT systems means services will run more smoothly.  Single leadership, standards and new structures will speed up decision making.  Combined corporate services will reduce duplication and cut running costs. This means more money for front-line services and faster improvements.

Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust, Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are working collaboratively to ensure that local people in have access to the best possible healthcare services.

The group of hospitals have embarked on a significant transformation programme to drive change to secure improved outcomes for the communities served by the Trusts and the sustainability of the health and care economy across mid and south Essex.

Corporate support services are a key partner in the transformation programme, and following diagnostic work in the spring and early summer, the three trusts have embarked on a programme of work, with an aim to create a high quality and sustainable corporate service. 

The Improvement and Change Specialist role will be based at Southend Hospital, but expected to travel across Basildon, Southend and Mid Essex. The role will form part of the wider corporate support transformation programme team in supporting to deliver the programme vision but will be focused on supporting the Informatics Transformation programme.

The successful candidate will be part of the wider MSB Institute and will be expected to promote the work of the Institute and ensure the deployment of agreed change management methodologies; this may include the preparation and delivery of training to staff.
