Here at Southend University Hospital we strive to provide high quality care for every patient, every time.

We would be nothing without our staff. So it goes without saying that when it comes to recruiting new team members, we're looking for the best. We encourage staff to be innovative, to challenge the "as is" and to always put patients first.

We want staff who will live our trust values every day.

Care with compassion, Working together, Professional and accountable

This is an exciting time to join us. The three NHS trusts that currently run Broomfield, Southend and Basildon hospitals are planning to become a new single NHS organisation by mid-2019.

All three hospitals will continue to provide the services our patients use the most. These include outpatient appointments, children’s services and day-case surgery.  All three hospitals will continue to provide 24/7 A&E and maternity services.

By working as one team we will provide the same high standard of care and services for all of our 1.2m local residents. Using the same equipment, processes and IT systems means services will run more smoothly.  Single leadership, standards and new structures will speed up decision making.  Combined corporate services will reduce duplication and cut running costs. This means more money for front-line services and faster improvements.

Attracting new talent is key to our future and the scale of our organisation will give far  more career, training and development opportunities for all our staff.

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity as a newly qualified paediatric nurse? The role will begin with a 12 month rotation between our Paediatric Assessment Unit and Neptune Children’s Ward with 6 months' in each area.

Neptune Children’s Ward has 31 beds and caters for children aged 0-16 requiring medical, surgical and day-stay admission. There is also a designated Paediatric Assessment Unit consisting of a 6 bedded area, an isolation cubicle and treatment room. Neptune Unit uses the Partnership Model to deliver holistic nursing care.

The Role: Our dynamic, caring and highly-motivated team is looking for candidates who can communicate clearly and empathetically with patients and relatives as well as other colleagues. Excellent organisation skills and an ability to prioritise a busy workload are also essential.

All posts will be subject to a probationary period.

The Trust is offering a recruitment and retention package of £1000. The first payment of £500 will be made on receipt of your NMC Registration and the second payment will be made after you successfully complete your 6 months' probation. Southend University Hospital Staff benefits:
