This is an exciting time to join us. The three NHS trusts that currently run Broomfield, Southend and Basildon hospitals are planning to become a new single NHS organisation by mid-2019.
All three hospitals will continue to provide the services our patients use the most. These include outpatient appointments, children’s services and day-case surgery. All three hospitals will continue to provide 24/7 A&E and maternity services.
By working as one team we will provide the same high standard of care and services for all of our 1.2m local residents. Using the same equipment, processes and IT systems means services will run more smoothly. Single leadership, standards and new structures will speed up decision making. Combined corporate services will reduce duplication and cut running costs. This means more money for front-line services and faster improvements.

Exciting opportunity to commence your rotational role at Southend Hospital joining our Early Rehab and Nursing Team (ERAN) for Orthopaedics. This is a rotational post which will commence in the ERAN team so access to a car for work use is essential for this role.

We provide strong Band 7 & 8a Physiotherapy leadership in all specialities to support new starters in a 6 month probationary programme offering a robust induction and helping them settle into our teams. We provide a training and competency structure for all equipment, on-call and weekend working to support staff development. We provide monthly rotation specific in-service training, regular accountability as well as offering a range of role specific training opportunities.
The Outpatient Team offers Band 5 opportunities in Hand therapy, General Outpatients & Satellite Clinics allowing individuals to develop general and specialist MSK assessment and treatment skills
The Community and Paediatric teams provide Physiotherapy and rehabilitation services for adults and children outside of the acute hospital setting. Our aim is to help individuals recover from acute illness trauma or surgery, and to manage their health condition longer-term. We work within patient’s homes, intermediate care units and the children’s centre in order to optimise independence and have a strong focus on health and wellbeing. Within these services band 5 therapists can gain experience and a range of skills on which to build a solid foundation for a successful career in Physiotherapy
The Inpatient Team offers Band 5’s the opportunity to develop their core skills in a variety of settings:
Fast paced assessment and discharge planning with our A&E and frailty services
Respiratory skills across the acute wards including medical wards, surgical wards, critical care and ARCU
Mobility and discharge planning skills with MDT working across all inpatient wards.
Experience within elective and trauma orthopaedic wards
Experience with the management of acute stroke patients on our award winning Acute Stroke Unit
The successful candidate will be a Member of the Chartered Society Physiotherapy, registered with Health Professional Council and have a Degree in Physiotherapy. Some community posts will require candidates to hold a full driving licence, own and car with business insurance.
There are full time permanent and temporary posts at 37.5 hours per week and some posts will involve weekend working.
