All three hospitals will continue to provide the services our patients use the most. These include outpatient appointments, children’s services and day-case surgery. All three hospitals will continue to provide 24/7 A&E and maternity services.

Using the same equipment, processes and IT systems means services will run more smoothly. Single leadership, standards and new structures will speed up decision making. Combined corporate services will reduce duplication and cut running costs. This means more money for front-line services and faster improvements.

Are you a Registered Nurse with experience or an interest in Ophthalmology?
We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our Ophthalmology teams based in Southend to help maintain the high standards of care we strive for within Ophthalmology.
We are responsible for providing a specialist ophthalmic service for the population of South Essex across the two sites; we offer a 24 hour emergency service which you may become part of once you are competent and confident in your practice. This department will offer you the opportunity to develop in your role as an ophthalmic nurse within a dynamic team.
You will help formulate and carry out effective care for our patients and ensure it is delivered to the highest possible level. We are seeking a motivated, team orientated professional with a passion for delivering good nursing care. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication skills, a high sense of professionalism and a strong belief in the value of teamwork.
You will have the opportunity to gain experience in all areas of Ophthalmology including theatres, ward and clinic. Once competent we are looking to develop you further by supporting your training and education for enhanced nursing roles within the ophthalmology department.
Please note this post may require you to travel to the Orsett location.
This position is permanent, 37.5 hours per week. The shift pattern will consist of days and on call duties, covering evenings and weekends.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
