Here at Southend University Hospital we strive to provide high quality care for every patient, every time.

We would be nothing without our staff. So it goes without saying that when it comes to recruiting new team members, we're looking for the best. We encourage staff to be innovative, to challenge the "as is" and to always put patients first.

We want staff who will live our trust values every day.

Care with compassion, Working together, Professional and accountable

This is an exciting time to join us. The three NHS trusts that currently run Broomfield, Southend and Basildon hospitals are planning to become a new single NHS organisation by mid-2019.

All three hospitals will continue to provide the services our patients use the most. These include outpatient appointments, children’s services and day-case surgery.  All three hospitals will continue to provide 24/7 A&E and maternity services.

By working as one team we will provide the same high standard of care and services for all of our 1.2m local residents. Using the same equipment, processes and IT systems means services will run more smoothly.  Single leadership, standards and new structures will speed up decision making.  Combined corporate services will reduce duplication and cut running costs. This means more money for front-line services and faster improvements.

Attracting new talent is key to our future and the scale of our organisation will give far  more career, training and development opportunities for all our staff.

The team at Southend University Hospital are currently looking for experienced Band 5 physiotherapists ready to take the next step and develop with us into a competent and confident Band 6 or existing Band 6 Physiotherapists looking for a new challenge within the Inpatient Acute Ward setting.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to join our amputee service on a one year secondment / fixed term contract. The successful candidate would work as part of our surgical inpatient team on the wound management ward and be responsible for the outpatient amputee service alongside our band 6 occupational therapist.

The roles offer opportunities to develop clinically and managerially within a friendly and supportive environment. Training and clinical development opportunities are available, with support to attend recognised courses within the area of your rotation to support your development in addition to providing comprehensive in-service training and regular clinical supervision. We will also support the development of your skills in appraisal management and leadership skills with relevant courses.
