Here at Southend University Hospital we strive to provide high quality care for every patient, every time.
We would be nothing without our staff. So it goes without saying that when it comes to recruiting new team members, we're looking for the best. We encourage staff to be innovative, to challenge the "as is" and to always put patients first.
We want staff who will live our trust values every day.
Care with compassion, Working together, Professional and accountable
This is an exciting time to join us. The three NHS trusts that currently run Broomfield, Southend and Basildon hospitals are planning to become a new single NHS organisation by mid-2019.
All three hospitals will continue to provide the services our patients use the most. These include outpatient appointments, children’s services and day-case surgery. All three hospitals will continue to provide 24/7 A&E and maternity services.
By working as one team we will provide the same high standard of care and services for all of our 1.2m local residents. Using the same equipment, processes and IT systems means services will run more smoothly. Single leadership, standards and new structures will speed up decision making. Combined corporate services will reduce duplication and cut running costs. This means more money for front-line services and faster improvements.
Attracting new talent is key to our future and the scale of our organisation will give far more career, training and development opportunities for all our staff.
To support the General Manager/Clinical Services Manager in the day-to-day operational management of the surgical directorate service. This will include: ensuring that outpatient clinics and theatre lists are fully utilised, full validation of waiting lists and other data is carried out regularly and medical rotas are co-ordinated and meet the needs of the service.
To lead on individual projects and participate in service improvements, including providing analysis on data and information and liaising with other staff across the directorate and wider Trust.
To line manage the rota co-ordinators, admission clerks and secretaries, ensuring that their workload is managed appropriately and completed to a high standard. To ensure that appraisals, leave and performance is consistently managed across the team.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
