Here at Southend University Hospital we strive to provide high quality care for every patient, every time.
We would be nothing without our staff. So it goes without saying that when it comes to recruiting new team members, we're looking for the best. We encourage staff to be innovative, to challenge the "as is" and to always put patients first.
We want staff who will live our trust values every day.
Care with compassion, Working together, Professional and accountable
This is an exciting time to join us. The three NHS trusts that currently run Broomfield, Southend and Basildon hospitals are planning to become a new single NHS organisation by mid-2019.
All three hospitals will continue to provide the services our patients use the most. These include outpatient appointments, children’s services and day-case surgery. All three hospitals will continue to provide 24/7 A&E and maternity services.
By working as one team we will provide the same high standard of care and services for all of our 1.2m local residents. Using the same equipment, processes and IT systems means services will run more smoothly. Single leadership, standards and new structures will speed up decision making. Combined corporate services will reduce duplication and cut running costs. This means more money for front-line services and faster improvements.
Attracting new talent is key to our future and the scale of our organisation will give far more career, training and development opportunities for all our staff.
Three mid and south east Essex Acute trusts are operating within a rapidly changing, challenging but very exciting time of whole system reformation. The Trusts are in partnership as a fast developing hospital network currently comprising of Southend University Hospital NHS FT, Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Mid Essex Hospital NHS Trust (the Group). Over the next few years, through working together and in partnership with the Essex Success Regime (ESR) programme, they will define the future of care for the population of mid and south Essex.
As part of this acute trust collaboration we are redesigning our hospitals to ensure we meet rising demand with the best quality services. The Pharmacy Department is at the forefront of our service redesign and one of the first departments within ESR to offer the opportunities for developing standardised systems across the three hospitals, re-designing new and ongoing services as the clinical configuration changes in line with the Carter Report. This is all being led by a chief pharmacist working in partnership across the group.
Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (SUHFT) has recognised the essential role of clinical pharmacy with significant investment in the urgent and emergency care pathways, supporting Trust-wide transformation of its services.
SUHFT is the first in Essex to implement electronic prescribing, using the JAC system, and we are at the forefront of developing and enhancing this system within the NHS. With excellent communication skills, you will play a role in ensuring the hospital derives maximum benefit from e-Prescribing and the opportunities it provides to deliver true medicines optimisation.
Do you wish to gain or develop your experience within the Hospital Pharmacy setting?
Can you adapt quickly to new working environments?
If so, we want you to support our innovative and enthusiastic team of Clinical Pharmacists.
Supported by our excellent pharmacy team, the post-holder will enjoy a role working to deliver ward-based pharmacy services. The majority of your day will be spent in your designated ward areas working with the multidisciplinary team. You will rotate through various medical and surgical specialties and specialist technical services alongside some dispensary support. You will commence the postgraduate diploma supported by a senior Pharmacist tutor. Successful completion of the diploma with us will open the opportunity to join our existing band of independent prescribers and become a vital component in multidisciplinary ward based teams. This will require strong prioritisation and time management skills to enable you to work efficiently and effectively.
The role will involve working 1 day in every 4 weekends, a weekly late shift, and the rest of the week from 9am – 5.10pm, to enable a good work-life balance.
Southend-On-Sea is an exciting place to live, work and enjoy life. Just under an hour from London and Europe (either by rail or air), Southend and the surrounding area is vibrant and cosmopolitan. Local schools have an excellent reputation and the nearby seaside provides a pleasant backdrop as well as opportunities for fun and relaxation. The attractive nearby town of Leigh-On-Sea provides an alternative location for many professionals to settle and wind down after work.
Interview dates will be during the week commencing 29th October 2018
