Here at Southend University Hospital we strive to provide high quality care for every patient, every time.
We would be nothing without our staff. So it goes without saying that when it comes to recruiting new team members, we're looking for the best. We encourage staff to be innovative, to challenge the "as is" and to always put patients first.
We want staff who will live our trust values every day.
Care with compassion, Working together, Professional and accountable
Three mid and south east Essex Acute trusts are operating within a rapidly changing, challenging but very exciting time of whole system reformation. The Trusts are in partnership as a fast developing hospital network currently comprising of Southend University Hospital NHS FT, Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Mid Essex Hospital NHS Trust (the Group). Over the next few years, through working together and in partnership with the Essex Success Regime (ESR) programme, they will define the future of care for the population of mid and south Essex.
As part of this acute trust collaboration we are redesigning our hospitals to ensure we meet rising demand with the best quality services. The Pharmacy Department is at the forefront of our service redesign and one of the first departments within ESR to offer the opportunities for developing standardised systems across the three hospitals, re-designing new and ongoing services as the clinical configuration changes in line with the Carter Report. This is all being led by a new chief pharmacist working in partnership across the group.
Do you wish to gain or develop your experience within the Hospital Pharmacy setting?
Can you adapt quickly to new working environments?
If so, we want you to support our innovative and enthusiastic team of Clinical Pharmacists.
Our Trust has recognised the essential role of clinical pharmacy with significant new investment in the urgent and emergency care pathways, supporting Trust-wide transformation of its services. In order to achieve this, we need a pool of pharmacists available to join the Hospital bank to provide cover for existing vacancies and maternity leave.
Supported by our excellent pharmacy team, the post-holder will enjoy a role in clinically screening outpatient and inpatient prescriptions and counselling patients. Dependent upon experience, the post may also include working on the wards, conducting medicines reconciliation and medicines optimisation. This will require strong problem-solving, prioritisation and time management skills to enable you to work efficiently and effectively.
Southend Hospital is the first in Essex to implement electronic prescribing, using the JAC system, and we are at the forefront of developing and enhancing this system within the NHS. With excellent communication skills, you will play a role in ensuring the hospital derives maximum benefit from e-Prescribing and the opportunities it provides to deliver true medicines optimisation.
Our department actively supports staff development and you will be given the opportunity to gain experience towards your development as a clinical hospital pharmacist.
Please note: This post will NOT require any on-call or lone working, but weekend work may be offered according to the needs of the department.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
