This is an exciting time to join us. The three NHS trusts that currently run Broomfield, Southend and Basildon hospitals are planning to become a new single NHS organisation by mid-2019.

 All three hospitals will continue to provide the services our patients use the most. These include outpatient appointments, children’s services and day-case surgery.  All three hospitals will continue to provide 24/7 A&E and maternity services.

By working as one team we will provide the same high standard of care and services for all of our 1.2m local residents. Using the same equipment, processes and IT systems means services will run more smoothly.  Single leadership, standards and new structures will speed up decision making.  Combined corporate services will reduce duplication and cut running costs. This means more money for front-line services and faster improvements.

Our Award winning Stroke Team are recruiting a Clinical Fellow (ST3 Level). This post is fixed term to start as soon as possible ending on the 6th August 2019.

The Stroke department at Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is recognised as a regional centre of excellence, it provides a caring and
comprehensive service for the treatment of hyperacute stroke, stroke and rehabilitation for the population of Southend and Essex.

Recently there has been a complete revision of the imaging services, so that now there is a Consultant-led service with the ability to initiate correct scanning; instant access to scans for urgent cases; maximum 24 hour wait for routine cases and pre-booked slots for routine CT, MRI imaging and carotid doppler ultrasound. 

Southend-On-Sea is an exciting place to live, work and enjoy life. Just under an hour from London and Europe (either by rail or air), Southend and the surrounding area is vibrant and cosmopolitan. Local outstanding schools have an excellent reputation and the nearby seaside provides a pleasant backdrop as well as opportunities for fun or relaxation. The attractive nearby town of popular Leigh-On-Sea provides an alternative location for many professionals to settle and wind down after work.
